Shrink has not been updated and will not be so it cannot work with newer encryption on newer discs so you need to use a newer program like Fab 8 which is free shrink can still be used with Fab 8

Sounds more like a hardware issue than software.
Are you able to play the DVDs on your PC?
If so, the easiest solution would probably be to install AnyDVD.
Then, try DVD Shrink again and if it is still giving the same error, simply use AnyDVD to extract the DVD to your hard drive.
You can then simply select "Open Files" in DVD Shrink and point it to the folder where you extracted using AnyDVD.

dvdfab is free to rip always, unless you buy anydvd which is a 30 day trial there would be no point installing it ,that said both fab & any + clonedvd would be good as part of your arsenal as for shrink it has been updated without the protection ripping aspect, it is now part of the nero suit & called nero recode
