AT&T has said today that they are now offering free unlimited mobile-to-mobile in the U.S. to all customers who have a qualifying voice plan and unlimited text messaging.
Starting tomorrow, you can activate the "Mobile to Any Mobile" addition from www.att.com/anymobile.
Says the carrier:

Hmmm..it may be worthwhile for me to think about canceling my land line. I only got it because my wife tends to talk for hours on the phone but most people she talks to only have cell phones.
I could knock my phone plan down to minumum minutes and just pay an extra $10 for the unlimited text and prolly save like $30 a month. I may have to look into that.
I'm glad there is some good coming out of Verizon's iPhone. I would still never get it as it lacks data and voice simultaneously. Many will not know about this and many will certainly not care anyway.
I'm happy with AT&T overall but the lack of unlimited plans by the time I signed up was pretty lame. I hate having to be cautious over my usage.
AT&T should realise by now that if they have one of the largest customer bases, this doesn't mean prices increase!
