More management turnover for AMD

Less than a month after the Board of Directors removed the CEO, AMD is seeing more management turnover, as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior VP of Corporate Strategy plan to step down.
COO Bob Rivet and VP Marty Seyer will stay with AMD to help with the transition, added the company, before leaving for "other opportunities."

If they intend to keep the PC market, they need to try to make some good chips; I have been waiting for an AMD that can match the speed of an intel since intel overtook AMD with the core2duo.

Yip same here, ok AMD are not bad chips, but ive only supplied customers intel for years due to what killer said, the extra heat and memory of the days when amd cpu's managed to set fire to a few pcs.
I think largely AMDS problem is that the merger with ati cost them, but ultimately made sense, but nvidias kung fu is strong.
The lack of ability to break their low power chip and steal some market share from arm based chips.
Personally although i dont use AMD cpus i welcome them to the market place as its the only thing to keep intels prices in check.
If only CYRIX was still macking cpu's we could all probably be paying less per mflop.

are you kidding? intels prices are way to high, you buy a brand new intel i7 and you need a fricken mortgage for christ sake! at least amd cpus are affordable and you dont have to take out a loan just to purchase one. i7 maybe faster, but a quad or hex core amd cpu will do the job just fine for almost any game out there.

The merger with ATI is pretty crappy in my opinion. I thought it might be good (notably because AMD released all the specifications they could about the video cards, enough to make free drivers on all OS's). I thought maybe Linux support from ATI cards would improve after the merger but nothing substantial has happened thus far. I gave up a long time ago and bought another Nvidia.
I'm currently using an AMD Phenom II X4 clocked at 3.4 GHz. Serves me well for my needs (rarely any gaming (use consoles), especially heavy 3D). I am glad this merger has not caused a conflict of interest between putting Nvidia graphics chips on AMD chipsets (my motherboard has a Geforce 8200).

I had intel once, price performance is AMD biggest win here... I can upgrade my pc every year if I want to... Last january I got their best quad (3.4) for less then $200. Now if think is worth paying the extra $300 or more for little to none boost you souls go Intel. I will upgrade when they get the double of performance of what I have, maybe next january.

I agree you have to be rich & foolish to buy Intel as they are WAY too expensive and really are not that much faster. And as to heat I don't see that either and I've built thousands and thousands of Servers and PC's commercially.
Also taking over ATI was a great merger move and they have done wonders with the video cards that I wouldn't touch before, but now I won't screw with NVidia which equates to less horse power and more money.
It is sad to see this turnover I hope it doesn't compromise the companies effectiveness from past history. I sure don't want to get stuck with Intel & NVidia!

WOW, the Intel Mojo Lives on!!! I haven't bought Intel in years. My AMD and ATI components run circles around InTEL and NVIDIA at the same price points. There is no comparizon. I love my 6-core 1075T and 4-core 955 and ATI3870/ATI4830 cards!! THey are great. I too hope that the shake up does not deter that vision of AMD being the best bang for the buck attitude. As a suggestion, I do agree with Plasma237 and suggest AMD get a low power ARM compatible chip out there for th emassive smartphone and tablet market. More sales than PC's this year means there's a market to be taken! Get with it AMD! I'm behind you>
