This is great news...now every hacker on earth is going to be attacking the thing on launch day and we will see a jailbreak in no time. Thanks Sony! Your tireless encouragement of Jailbreakers is worthy of a reward.

I seriously could not agree more. I'm really curious to see which carrier this will come put for, and if they will take issue with people hacking it, since it is sony's device.

Except this time in US, its legal to jailbreak your Phone lol F U SONY. Also they can't claim piracy if you own the games you hacked onto the phone on PSN anyway, whether the game was for PSP or PS3. It's technically classified as a digital copy of your purchase.
Full integration would have made better sense in this regard cause now if the Xperia is hacked, there is nothing much Sony can do about it.
Tho being Sony they'll either try to argue they signed a similar EULA as the PS3/PSP so it circumvents the DMCA, or they'll try to argue that Xperia Play is primarily a game console first with phone features as a secondary option.

Wow Sony you really want people to rebuy their games again just to play them on this phone? How do they expect to compete against the iPhone with this type of strategy? At least on the iPhone you can redownload for free any Apps you bought on an iPod Touch, iPad, or other iPhone.
I've bought a few games on PSN and would never buy them again just to play on this phone.

Wow that smart, I wanted to add emulators to this too mostly because I don't like the touchscreen controller. Touchscreen is the worst.

After a bit of thought, I actually kinda like the idea of having a phone that is both rooted and jailbroken...and the SNES-style control pad would be great for emulators. As long as it does not need a PSN account, it could be a great phone. ...And if there is some kind of agreement upon the first startup, I will make the guy a bestbuy accept the agreement :)
