Converting VOB to avi

Vegas Video 5.0 works best when editing an avi file, rather than a vob file + associated .wav file. I have the vob files created by DVD Decrypter. I would like to convert the vob files into one avi file (with video and audio) to edit in Vegas.

I have tried using DVD2AVI, but all I ever get is a .wav file, I never get an avi file. So my quesitons are:

1. Is this the correct tool to use?
2. How do I get it to create an avi files from the vob files?
