When you buy media, consider using one of AfterDawn's advertisers.
Check out the guide on DVD media at digitalfaq.com. It gives you the lowdown on most of the brand name media and their manufacturers. It will explain why some people love a brand and others don't. The reason being that companies buy their bulk media from different manufacturers. For instance Memorex DVDs might be CMC (sucks) or RICOHJPN or PRODISC (good).
just checked out digitalaq.com.I notice that ritek go4 discs are 2nd class(bit of a generalisation there...i take it that covers datasafe, ridisc, ridata etc)and that my piodata that incidentally are ritekgo4 are 4th class and only suitable for landfill!!And Ive burnt 4-500 4x at 8x with NOT ONE COASTER!!Just shows you how much boll**ks is written.I know for a fact that a grades get a few b grades thrown in,but hey, find a disc that works for you(anything but princo!!!)a good supplier and stick with it.Not every disc suits every set up.And the method you use to burn is crucial.I cant use Nero, but others can.Bit confusing isnt it??
It is just a guide, but it is pretty comprehensive with a lot of good info. It does comfirm what I have read in other guides: Taikyo Yuden(?), Pioneer and Maxell seem to be the best, if you can find them, but they're expensive. However, I use Ritek almost exclusively, the combination of quality and price can't be beat.
