According to BBC iPlayer director general Mark Thompson, the international iPlayer app for the iPad and other devices is "definitely coming this year" and will cost under $10 per month for a subscription. Says Thompson, the app will cost "a small number of dollars per month, definitely fewer than 10." so, how come then fuckers chare me about $20/mth for the BBC license?

sometimes i hate the bbc. frikking england subsidising the world again!

In response to that comment. I have paid a licence fee in the UK for around 40 years. This covers the benefit of Radio and TV and all the independent Radio/TV. I would love to be able to view BBC programmes on Iplayer here in France but cannot. I now pay a lcence fee here in France for just the right to receive broadcasts. That's what the licence fee is for. It's a tax.
I would have to pay a further subscription to watch 4OD and also another to watch ITV on line etc. That would amount to virtually being a UK licence. I cannot get english radio in my car nor on my phone. We also cannot purchase SKY due to "contractual issues" within the EU.
