movie shows twice during encoding

Not sure if this is a factor -- but do you have an external burner with a USB 1.1 connection? When I had that set-up, encoding would take 2-3 hours and burning nearly that. When I upgraded to USB 2.0 it cut both encoding & burning times drastically.
Although -- you say it only takes 15 minutes to burn so this probably isn't it.
Very weird ... sorry I can't be more help.

In DVD-Shrink After you choose Open Disc, and then Back Up, the backup window will appear. Click the backup options tab in the back window. Make sure Preform Deep Analysis Before Backup To Improve Quality is unchecked.

I'm all ears guys. I agree, it is taking way too long to do my backup's. What can I do with the hardware issue. Maybe this will help, but I don't think so. I am using an external Maxtor 40 gig hdd for the backup, NOT the main drive of the computer as there isn't enough space. Would this USB 2.0 connection be the issue? Another reason I don't use the main HDD of the computer isn't just because I only have 11 gig's available, but also because the main HDD is a FAT32 vs. NTFS which the external does have. Does this shed some new light for the dog backup's that I have been experiencing?

You're connection will certainly make a huge difference on your transfer rate, also You have to have NTFS to handle the large files, so u should be alright there. I do all my video work on an external 80G HD, USB 2.0-60MB/S, USB 1.0-1.5MB/S.

I finally got it! I couldn't figure out how to turn the "deep analysis" off as I thought it had to be done "prior" to the actual backup. In fact, Buik tried to tell me it was durning the "backup" stage that there are other options for the backup and that is where I found the check box. Now my analyse is 5 minutes, my encoding is about 1 1/2 hours and due to having unchecked the "deep analysis" box, it goes right to a burn which takes all of 15 minutes. Wow! What a difference. Hope someone can learn from this one. BIG DIFFERENCE!
P.s. By the way, I just got the Ritek Branded G04 DVD-R 4x disks and have backed up 6 movies and 1 game and they all came out perfect! I am definitely a Ritek fan. Amazing how many different errors and issues come up with media that doesn't fly. Without this forum, there is no way in hell one would know this was the reason. Thanks everyone that participated. I will now look out for people that have some of the same issues as me so I can help contribute too, you know, put in what I got out!

Glad we were able to help you. And, yes, if you visit often enough you too can help someone.
I will say, "Use Deep Analysis" when ever you have to compress your back up file. Using that feature should give you better video output.
Next, do not be afraid to back-up only the main movie file(s). Hate having to click on functions & features when you just want to watch the carnsarned movie? Use the re-author mode. You can also edit out frames from the begging of the movie and all the credits at the end. It all helps give you the best video that can be burned onto a DVD 5 disc.

Is it possible that you are just seeing it 2x in the preview when it reads though the full screen and wide screen version of the movie?

It had nothing to do with "deep analysis". In shrink whether you use deep analysis or not... Shrink will analyize twice(once upon opening the disc, and again before encoding). ms_twana mistakened the second analysis for encoding.
