The DVDShrink and DVDDecryptor problem

I know I'm going to get slammed for asking this question because I think I already know the answer, but I want to see what the experts think of this problem.
I ran "DVD Shrink" seems pretty simple, waited for it to do it's encoding and then launch "DVD Edcryptor" by itself. I unclick "nero" like all the posts said to do and when "DVD Decryptor" launches it doesn't do anything. I have the "source" going to my harddrive and my "destination" reading: [1:1:0]Sony CD-RW CRX140E(H:). Below that I have "burn-proof checked and the following is listed from Decryptor.
The following comes up:
18:27:54 DVD Decrypter Version 3.2.2.0 started! 18:27:54 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) 18:27:55 Initialising SPTI...
18:27:55 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... 18:27:55 Found 1 CD-RW and 1 DVD-ROM!
Then it gives me this error message. "Device not ready" (Imcompatible Medium Installed). URGGGGGGG!
Does that mean I have the wrong blank dvds? I'm using Verbatim DVD+R. Or is it saying that my DVD drive is outdated?
Any help ya'll could give me would be most appreciated for this rookie!

oh! Don't I feel like a DumbA$$!!! I thought these software programs does it for you. So you don't have to buy a dvd writer. So whats the purpose of these programs if you get a dvd writer?
I don't get it...

At least you didn't waste any money on Shrink and Decrypter!
The purpose of both programs is that factory DVD's have a copy protection on them called CSS that needs to be removed before a copy can be made. Also, most factory DVDs nowadays are "dual-layer" which in essence means they can hold twice as much data as can be burned to a single blank DVD so the original must be "compressed" to fit on a blank, hence DVD Shrink :)

Don't feel too bad... Today I had someone ask whats the difference between a cd burner and a dvd burner. You live and learn, and these days burners are affordable.

Some more food for thought. Depending on your PC's capacity; CPU, RAM, free HD space, you may or may not be able to use the PC for burning video. Look at the resources required to burn DVD. Just because a PC can burn a CD doesn't mean it has the capacity to burn movies on DVD. If the PC meets the requirements, purchase the burner and have fun. You have a lot of learning ahead. You have some one button programs and others require more input. Guess which ones usually do the best job?

You can also buy (for a few bucks) a program that allows you to play a dvd on while recording it on your cd writer. It includes rippers etc. The advertisment indicates the resultant disc can be played in a commercial dvd player. Haven't tried it myself, but I saw the program on the shelf in "stapels" 10 bucks CDN

Wonder what you get for the $10? Hi there Flip. Sounds awful cheap for a recording pack with a ripper and monitor software. Let's just hope. I'd like to know the name of this package too. Seems I may have wasted a lot of money on my software.

Guys I'l look for the name next time I'm over at that store. But no kidding, 10 bucks. It was with other games and programs you can buy for cheap. As stated it uses your CD burner to make DVDs. I would have tried it but I had already acquired DVD xpres. Much to my chagrine.

For that price it has to be vcd/svcd creation software surely?
There is a piece of software called Movie Jack which claims the same thing..."Burn DVD on your CD-Writer"....hmmm.

I believe you have it. SVCD is big in the orient, but has very little market share in the US. Poor quality when compared to DVD.

Watch out for the Xpress. The version I have won't work with some of the Disney movies (especially the animated ones). If you get a crash, use another recording software to check. The freebie DVD Shrink is a free tool, so no cost incurred for the test.
