XBox 360 powers on then off?

I bought a RROD Xbox 360 Xephyr chip (203w) and am having problems. When I press the power button it flashes green on the 360 and power supply for a split second then goes back to orange. The power supply works with my friend's 150w Jasper model, so I know that the supply is good. If I try too many times it goes into an endless power on and of cycle and then I pull the cord from he wall and the psu flashes red for a split second but still works with my friends 360. If I pull from the brick, it will start the endless cycle if I plug it back in. There is video, or maybe no time for it. The fans start on the 360 and it makes a starting noise. The psu makes a clicking noise. What is wrong, and is this fixable at all? Note: Is there any chance that it is shorting?

probably a dead board but you can see if the DVD drive is unplugged. if it is, then the RF module would also flash green. if the board is having power issues, you're screwed.

Happens with the drive in and out? Am I 100% screwed?

Is sounds like you have a short somewhere. The first thing I would check would be for broken or bent pins in one of the USB ports or sockets making contact with the metal casing (I've fixed a lot of dead consoles this way) . If you see any bent pins, straighten them out with needlenose pliers.
If you don't see anything shorting out in any of the ports/sockets, the next thing would be to measure voltages across the motherboard. Replacing "mosfets" below the CPU or GPU may work for you, if you are really handy with a soldering gun.
"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Replacing mosfets is insane and no task for any noob. Plus, they are just hard to remove. Good points about the pins, other than that, time for a new box.

I hope it is just a short. So see if any pins in the socket are touching the chassis? Could they be in the A/V slot, the power input, or the other two ports on the front at well? Could the short be caused by something on the inside? Would uploading pictures help?

Another thing: Could it be that the RF is in kind of weird and the input may be touching the chassis? There's one stripped screw in and it could be causing the RF to be in at an angle. Could this be the cause of it?

No. The RF module isn't going to cause any shorts unless it's shorted inside the input to the board.

Yeah, the same thing happens without the RF in when I press eject. The guy who had it before me did a case mod ans spray painted it orange. Could he have messed up and caused it? What are the chances of it being a short? Did the pictures I posted help?
