Google removes PS1 emulator from Android Market

article published on 31 March, 2011

Google has kicked a PSX emulator for Android devices out of the Android Market. Citing its Content Policy, Google pulled the PSX4Droid application from the Android Market. I still have mine as of right now. And since I have it backed up with all my other stuff I shouldn't have much to worry about I wouldn't think.

It's quite easy to offer apps without the market. Google has to abide by the rules, even if the rules are unfair.
But, anyone can offer an Android app from a website without the stupid marketplace.
Anyone wanting to use an emulator should have no problem finding the app.

Or am I missing something?

PSX4Droid is based on source from another Playstation emulator called PCSX, but doesn?t comply with the GPL license used by that software. That's why you can still find FPSe on the Market and not PSX4Droid. Google is right on this one There's no dick move from Sony, there's no dick move from Google, there's just the GPL license that wasn't respected by PSX4Droid.
