So Ive got these files from a DVD, now I want to put them on my own disk for a backup, but Nero doesnt work (the next button doesnt go green) and Ive tried a few off download.com but theyre useless.

Anyone know of something decent?

(I tried DVD x-copy express but it doesnt load them up) (Also I get an error with DVD Shrink - invalid data in file).

There are free burning apps out there but there isn't a one of them I'd recommend over Nero. Nero is about as easy and stable as it gets so if it's not working there is a problem that in all liklihood isn't going to be solved by going to a different burning app.

First things first, what software you using to rip the DVD to your hard drive?

From your JPEG, it looks like you've got it set to "DVD Data Files" in the top left of the window. Try selecting the "DVD Video Files" option to the immediate left of it and try again :)

Hmmm, it sounds like it might help to reinstall Nero.

It may also be easier to start over.

One option would be to re-rip the disc with DVD Decrypter which is free and easy to use:

Another option would be to install DVD43 (free) and do the entire process with Recode2.

Whichever you prefer :)

I no longer have the dvd, I only have these files here.

Can I somehow make them an iso? I can mount it atleast then so she can watch it.

If you don't own the disc it's piracy and you won't get help with that here. Please read the rules before posting.

I do own the disk, this is the honest truth.

I bought it on its release date, my g/f loves it. My friend is the tech guru wanted to borrow it, were going on holiday together (business deal in NYC), he's going a few days before me and he took the DVD to watch on his laptop, but I told him to do something so my g/f can watch it while were away.

Anyway, Im flying out tomorow afternoon and I really need to know how to set this up so she can watch it otherwise Ill get it in the neck :S

I hope you understand that this isn't anything personal, but what you're talking about is still piracy since it's not an archive copy. I know it probably seems like I'm being too technical, but that's the way it works and we have to be careful.
