Geohot donates remaining defense funds to EFF

According to his blog, Geohot has donated the remaining money from his legal defense fund to the EFF, as promised.
Last month, the hacker, facing a lawsuit from an angry Sony over his part in jailbreaking the PS3, asked for donations and received an overwhelming response. Within one day, his defense fund was full and some even speculated that Microsoft had helped.

I'm glad he came out of it alright, but I can't say I'm not deeply disappointed they didn't fight against Sony harder after all the grand-standing.

Honestly I still think he's a pussy at this point. After all that hype about fighting he simply surrendered? I'm sure we'll never know the entire story but it doesn't make it any less sad.

I guess we're all gonna have the same thought on that, because when I read the news I felt like something was missing there... like there should have been more out of the whole thing, I don't feel like sony was given a good enough lesson...

Let's be realistic. No matter how many world class lawyers he had, He wouldn't of stood a chance against a court that biased towards Sony. It's just not realistic. The guy was offered to be let off with a slap on the wrist and he took it. I know I would have, no matter how many people in the world were encouraging me to fight Sony. Let's not forget, if he did try to fight Sony, then he would've been gambling with his livelyhood. How many of you would risk your livelyhood's for a bunch of Sony-haters (I am one, BTW) you don't even know??

But I wonder... maybe Sony might not have won... or at least the appeal. That's why they settled. Perhaps GeoHot did not have the heart (and money) for it after all.

What has he taken from you. if you say the ability to play a game without cheats. your lying to yourself, as you'll find cheaters have been on PSN, far longer than this guys been in the scene.
I don't like Geowhore for a very specific reason, he cant keep his Attention Whoring self from ruining the scene. He had the PS3 boot code, he could have kept it under the table. passed it to all the scene members, and come up with a different approach of Booting files from the PS3, legally i might add. Oh no no not geowhore, His spotlight awaits, so he thought...till the curtain came crashing down.

He didn't steal your PSN, he didn't hack PSN, he never touched PSN. It was the PS3 He "assisted" in hacking. Geowhore doesn't give credit where credit is due for obvious reasons. God forbids him from sharing the stage, you know.

Yes, for all the people that took place in the creation of what could have been. Geowhore could have been in the list of credits and props.
but unlikly as most scene teams don't operate under individualism 1911,Razor,etc,etc they tend to stick to group names. makes it harder for (insert greedy capitalist name here)to sue them.
