EA denies development for next-gen Xbox console

article published on 8 May, 2011

Electronic Arts (EA) has said this weekend that all reports that the company is already working on software development for the next-gen Xbox console are false. Reports had stated that EA had been given a working kit of the Xbox 360's successor in an effort to start game development early. EA spokesperson Jeff Brown says, however, "this story is a total fabrication - 100 percent not true." ... [ read the full article ]

Well of course they would denie it, otherwise it would slow sales of the 360 with people holding off for the new console.

I would doubt a lot would be new, most games i thought are developed now with XNA taking a fair amount of work developers needed to do and helping an easy port to other platforms, so development time I would think would be the same for games currently.

I think this is great I love the 10 year plan for consoles I honestly think we don't need to update them every 5 years.

These modern consoles that can get regular firmware updates are perfect for long life spans. Before now to add new features you would have to have all new hardware (in most cases).

8-10 years is perfect for me you get a good long life for your $300. I know you have some people that wouldn't mind a new system every 3 years but really if you want to upgrade so often get a high end PC and forget consoles you can upgrade every three months if you want.

The current 4-5 year old consoles are close enough to PC for me and have at least 3 years left in the tank.

not really, they've hit there turn around point. the point at which newer games look worse than they did in there prime which would have been in 2007-2009. sure you may have a larger FOV and and more stuff to do...but somethings got to give in order to get.
