Adobe Premier 6.5 No Control Device Crash Problem

I am using Premier 6.5 to capture video to a Matrox card. When device control is enabled the file captures without issue, however when capturing from a source with no Time Code (ie a DVD) the programme crashes when i hit esc or record to stop the capture. The files are retrievable upon reboot as .tmp files but problems can then arise from this.

Any ideas appreciated
