Say hello to the Wii 2's official leaked specs?

article published on 31 May, 2011

Less than a week before their official announcement Neogaf has posted what appears to be the hardware specs for the upcoming Wii 2 (Project Cafe). Hmm... when I read it (and just now reread it) it only lists the classic and classic pro, not the gamecube controllers.

the classic controllers cannot be used for gamecube games, however a gamecube controller can be used as a classic controller.

i'm now near certain that GC comapt will be dropped. When I first read this article I was excited that Nintendo kept the compat and gave em props for it...

However, I do see the WiiU supporting GC games in the form of VC DLs... they will re-release the better stuff on VC so we can all pay for it again... : ( I don't see the WiiU supporting GC discs and controllers...

Ah that makes sense, thanks Jam_k. GC controllers work as Classic controllers, but not the other way around. I just read that the Wii U will not play dvd/bd, so much for 3D, lol.

Peace!

Your right I got confused with the Classic controller. But it does seem odd that it wouldn't be carried over as that is the one good thing Nintendo does and is good at, backwards compatability, and as you know many Nintendo fans like their old games so let's just hope it is an over sight.
