As the popularity of the drives increase, unsurprisingly more manufacturers are trying to get into the game, with Lite-On IT being the latest to join in.

I don't see any stretch here but I do agree with the cheap poor product idea. I won't buy LiteOn anymore, they don't support their product like they use to, and their quality is poor as well.
Actually, there product as far as with DVD drives have been on par or even excelling performance in many cases with major competitors. It's best usually to check with customer's take on the product, but to use discernment to see which customers are talking out of their ass. Lite-On, which lesser-known, has been shown to produce "decent to very good" products. - BLUEBOY

Use to not anymore! I use to buy mainly LiteOn drives but they are crap now, compatability varies, firmware updates a joke, and there customer support is hard to reach and horrible. Otherwise they are a great drive. LOL
