Did I read that correctly? $250 for hand held?

For hardcore, proprietary equipment?

And they still can't keep your information secure?

No thanks folks.

The PS Vita's price is exactly inline with the 3DS, so I don't see how that is outside it's direct competitor for cost. Do I think both are overpriced. Yes, but more so the 3DS than the PSV. All I know is I am going to pre-order my PSV in the next couple of days.

Not even sure if Sony is making any margins on the Vita at that price point (if reported specs are accurate).

And in tone & retort with everyone's possible disdain with the old farts distaste for NOT waning over spending the equivalent amount of a cheap (probably grossly cheap, but hear me out) tablet PC that, yes, albeit NOT one of the coveted game centers of the aforementioned...

That's a lot of money... No game. No goodies that I saw. Maybe a little bit of cross platform movement from older platform goodness, but definitely not PS3 to Vita.

I'm just saying guys... Old fart here... Hind sight being 400/20, corrective lenses & all... anecdotal stories are for "you" guys, not me... I'm not spending the bucks. Sure, the devices get my "COOL" vote and Kudos... just not my money, that's all.

My big, old, crippled ass just happens to be hobbling over & see how I can get my platform onto big screen large enough so I can see Duke Nukem large enough to see the dancing nudies, that's all I'm saying.

LoL.

Actually it seems I was on the right track with my guess/connection between the PS Vita and PS3 that I posted here

The one thing I am going to also add is that I think Sony can have the real jump here...because if you think about it, the PSV should (in theory) do or offer the same kind of innovation that the Wii U controller has shown (in terms of connectivity & interoperability).

The difference being is that Sony has it THIS year. It's something people really need to start pondering, discussing & having an open mind about.

It looks like there is a bit of confirmation and rumblings about it already ~

Quote:
...many gamers began to wonder whether the PS3 and PlayStation Vita could do the same thing. SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida also believes that the combination could work, saying that Sony are experimenting with the idea.

Yoshida spoke to Develop about the Wii U and the Vita and PS3:

It is very interesting the ways that Nintendo went with Wii U, and I was surprised it wasn?t exactly as it had been rumoured.

Already people are starting to ask about linking Vita and PS3 to do something similar, in terms of using two screens, and having controls on the screen. That?s very interesting, and we will have to experiment.

He continued:

Lots of the things that developers of Vita games are doing, as you may have seen, is experimenting with connectivities between Vita and PS3.

The Wipeout [2048] team came up with their cross play ideas, and the other Vita teams have come up with ways of playing with two systems. It?s just a matter of time, as we provide the SDKs to developers so they can make use of both PS3 and Vita, and they might come up with something interesting.

So in essence, PSV and PS3 is an earlier version of Wii U. The major difference is that the PSV can survive without the PS3, but not the Wii U (the tablet controller is part of the Wii U).

Personally I think the WiFi model of the PSV is a very good deal at $249.99. I'll be getting one and Uncharted Golden Abyss!

Peace!
