article published on 15 June, 2011

According to a new report from The Diffusion Group, a full 32 percent of Netflix users plan to cut part of their cable subscription (if not all of it), a figure that has doubled from last year's report. 24 percent cited cost as the main reason, but a full 61 percent cited the availability of online video as their main reason. 66 percent of that group specifically cited Netflix. ... [ read the full article ]

I cut the cord more then a year ago. I have never liked cable services and had just been waiting for a suitable replacement. VoD was the perfect replacement for me.

When I get my own place, I'm not getting cable TV. I won't watch most of those channels and I want my content instantly. Netflix + Hulu (or whatever else is available).

the best part of this is what they didn't say "no" commercials. yes you need a fast connection but hulu netflicks it's all the same nice and clear hook a system(computer, xbox, ps3 or what ever) up to your tv and you have the best of both worlds its like between shows and the net what more do you want to watch...and its now not later so what if you wait till the next day...

I for one would do it, but I'm in a contradiction... I have to have cable in order to maintain a decent download rate for Nenuts to work properly. And then (for me) I have to maintain the premium package of mail-me movies because Netnuts doesn't exactly have all the movies available for insta-watch either. Then there's the issue of waiting till grandma's farting dust before new releases are actually available to Nut's customers.

Complicating matters further... What, 2/3 weeks ago Sony was dating the idea of purchasing Netnuts? I'm developing a case of painful rectal itch here guys.

I cut the video part of cable a little over a year ago & Comcast charged me a $18 downgrade fee. That sucked but I paid it anyway.

Interesting... smiler's comments aren't coming up, other than to show (sux) or just (./bye) on the screen. Not that I'm whining, but if you're going to post in here it should show. Otherwise, if you're afraid of beginners questions, I would have figured a line of inquiry would have shown up in a private message. It's making me think something went wrong with FireFox #35...

He may have meant my $18 downgrade charge with Comcast sucks (which it did btw) & his bye might have meant goodbye Comcast. At least thats the way I understood his meaning.

Netflix will piss off the cable companies to the point that they will begin tiered service for everyone, then you will all be shit out of luck. Watch your streaming service go bye bye. Or your cable internet service be more than the tv service was. Netflix doesn't care about its customers....its just trying to make as much money right now as they can , so when the cable and dsl companies start charging more for internet and their business model blows up all the suckers who cut the cord will be left paying a 'turn on' fee to resubscribe to cable.
