TechUnwrapped has reported today that infamous jailbreaker George 'Geohot' Hotz is now working at Facebook, following his Sony lawsuit.
Earlier this year, Hotz was sued by Sony after the jailbreaker created a custom firmware for the PS3 using a root key.

Yeah...although I'm not sure my donation to graf did anything anyway; what he did was not illegal, but the structure of the government meant that sony could block him just by filing a lawsuit, and could keep him blocked until the PS3 was ancient by repeatedly stalling. His only two choices were to stop work or to put himself on a cross; he choose the cross.
Good for Facebook tho...geohot is the kind of hacker who takes the raw research of others and makes obvious tools from said research before the smalltime hackers get a chance to do the same...that is what you want in a security technician. It is about time facebook had some hint of security.

This is what the EFF, academia & scientists were supposed to be fighting about when the DRM was being signed into law back in 98, yet here we are. Granted, this comment has little to do with regards to this motion on security, but it does speak to goehot's right(?) to experiment(?) with the code he was righting; if I may be allowed some leeway with my iteration.

That tends to be the drug of choice when it come to attention whores; fame. Even if it's illusion. I tend to agree with you 100%. Although, there 'might' be something to this cyber crime & EFF suit angle that might elongate his stay for a bit more time, but little more at best. Once one or the other breaks... You bet, he's face down Lindsay Lohan-ing it in a gutter 48 hours later.
