Apple to make it harder to jailbreak with iOS 5

article published on 27 June, 2011

Apple will make it much harder to jailbreak with iOS 5, if multiple reports are accurate. The company will update the software making it impossible to downgrade the firmware, says the iPhone Dev Team, the group behind many successful jailbreaks and unlocks. Members of the iPhone Dev Team saw the change in a recent unlocked developer's version of iOS 5. For current iPhones/iPod Touch, ... [ read the full article ]

Yet another reason for not buying any iDevice... For me. But, I guess, most fanboys just don't even know what jailbreaking is.

Then I'll keep this one short... Good luck with that Apple!

I am sure it isn't secure, but still, why bother jailbreaking it? It isn't worth the bother...not when there are competing devices with superior hardware and Android for the same or less money. If people want freedom, features, or performance they buy Android; Apple products have apple logos on them, and that is all their customer base cares about.

Yeah guy I bought my iPad just because it had an apple logo on the back of it. Not because it's convenient but because I want to spend countless hours trying to mod the damn thing, like my Android phone. And if Android were truly "free, feature laden or performance based", then there wouldn't be two million knock offs trying to steal your hard earned money. If people want to spend five hundi and get something that just works then they buy Apple.

This is some absurd argument I keep hearing as of late. 'I buy Apple because "it just works" while being beautiful and that's worth the extra money.' To which I laugh. I have no need for devices that "just work" and have shiny surfaces, I need devices which will excel, overwork, and exceed; devices which stay relevant for an extended amount of time while not having a large initial cost and a lack of upgradability. My PC and phone work all day every day, and better than any Apple product you can find. They will continue to do so.

Apple users pay more for less, that's all there is to it.

Amen.

All the PCs and mobile phones I had in my entire life since my first MSX DO still work. None of them is Apple, which I tried, and didn't like, and they can do many more things than Apple ones would, for sure.
