I am very excited to see them doing so well though. Apple had me scared for many years with them being the only choice out there. I like apple in there place a fan boy/girl only club.
Nexus one is a long way from a "modern" Android phone and OS.
Android 2.2 and now 2.3 (2.3.4) are worlds apart from when your nexus 1 was new. The operating sysyem has grown much since- you had a Droid. Leaps and bounds. And its beautiful to hold in your hand with customizabiity- nobody could have forseen how obsessed people would become with fine tuning and making their phones just right with custom roms and themes. Android is an awesome experience- if your hardware is up to the challenge.
