About 50% of my movies will freeze in the middle, or near the end. I didn't have this problem, until I starting using Teon brand. Does this sound like a dvd quality issue? I've been using both, dvdxcopy express, and dvd shrink with Intervideo dvdcopy, and get the same results. My system is:

AMD Athlon XP 3000+
512 MB RAM
160 GB HD
Lite-on DVDRW LDW-811S

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

Bingo!

It's best to stick with the good stuff like Ritek, Verbatim Metal AZO or whatever gives good results in your particular drive. If you're interested in trying another brand just buy a small quantity for testing purposes and if they skip or freeze you know not to buy them anymore :)

My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

I think you have probably answered your own question! Try going back to the media you were previously using and see if that cures the problem. I am not sure about the quality of the media you are using but I use RitekG04 discs and have never had one bad disc. I did try a cheaper media once (because they had nothing else left) and I ended up putting them all in the bin!

There is not much to be done for cheap media that freezes in the middle portion of the disc.

Heres my guide for burning cheap media:

1. Build a fire next to your computer...No wait, that stinks up the place...

1. Build a small fire next to your computer.

Well without getting too stupid on ya I can suggest that you:

1. Slow your burn speed down.
2. Use the custom size in Shrink to reduce the size of the files. Try 4400 mb instead of 4464 mb. The edge of the disc is where a lot of cheap media has problems.
3. Use the media for storing digital photos or other data storge jobs you might have.
4. Decorative yard ornaments... Tie a bunch of 'em together with some twine so they can be hung. Let them blow in the breeze and catch sunlight. Very pretty indeed.

Cheers,
Frank
