Facebook has announced the launch of "Facebook Messenger," a standalone app for iOS and Android. The app for android sucks, I really don't understand why they made it like this. You can't see who is online or offline and you cant even appear offline your. Its a messaging app like they say, not a instant messaging/chat app.

Due to be released, not released, correct? Presumably there were dev previews for reviews etc, then?

Looks pretty pointless to me, having chat already integrated into the main Facebook app is much more useful - perhaps they should just work on improving that!
