Install Windows 8 Dev Preview in VMware Workstation

article published on 15 September, 2011

I just finished installing using the free VmWare Player without having to buy Workstation 8. All attempts had failed prior to using the method outlined here. I used VmWare Player and followed the rest of the instructions here and it worked fine with the x64 version of the new Developers Preview. I previously had no problem installing the Consumers Preview x64 version, but I was banging my head on the wall on this one until I read this article. Thanks so much.
