The results of a study by Harris Interactive seem to indicate the adoption of e-book readers is leading to people in the US buying and reading more books. The numbers include both dedicated e-readers, like the Kindle, and tablet computers with e-reader apps. In a another survey, 65 percent of people confessed to lying about how they are using their new gadget. A separate survey revealed that about half of kindle users are still trying to figure out how to play first person shooters on them.
With all of the trees being saved however, we're bound to see a serious reduction in global warming. Amazon and the other e-book reader makers deserve a serious tax break, and some carbon credits.

People who buy eReaders like to read? Really? And here I thought that they were all just being used as paperweights.
