The Chicago Public Library has added Kindle books to its extensive catalog. To checkout the ebook, all you need is a valid zip code and a valid library card. Yeah but its not a printed book we are talking about. To have to be constrained by artificial limits on digital copies is quite ridiculous and having to pay licensing fees for each 'copy' that they have instead of per title is also crazy.

Kindle books can be read on 'Kindle for PC', (free software) and on lots of other devices. You don't need the Kindle reader.
