Teen beats man at COD, man beats teen in real life

article published on 1 October, 2011

According to a report in the British papers, Mark Bradford, a father of three, was playing a round of Call of Duty multiplayer online against a teen last week. The teen sniped Bradford, killing his character repeatedly in the game, and then teased him via headset about it. Bradford, who is 46, then allegedly drove to the teen's house and choked the child, resulting in a scratch and ... [ read the full article ]

FINALLY. I bet the kid wasn't so tough anymore when he showed up at his doorstep. I wonder how he found out where he lived. Maybe now we'll hear less of 10-20 years olds saying "fag" online.

its not hard to back trace IP's to there originated address. most telecoms have a nasty habit of leaving unwanted info in sent packets.

People always think they can say whatever they want and they'll be okay. The kid is fine, so whatever and the father is being punished (as he should), but the kid better think twice about running his mouth next time.

If I do get a console it will be a PS3 though over the 360 because I believe the community tends to be older (and consequently, more mature)... and other reasons like Blu-Ray and their exclusives, of course :P

Hmm... Kids these days think they're untouchable, specially on the web/online games. The game may not be the culprit of the man's actions, but violent games tend to "morph" people's temper and thoughts and make them do stupid stuff.

This has been a big problem in poor areas for years, kids yelling smack and throwing things at people driving through because they have to get out of the road and let the cars through while the paremts sit on the porch, dring beer and laugh. I have no sympathy for those parents whose kids get beat down for this BS. You don't teach your kids to be respectful, you never know when someone is going to go postal on them. But they are the first ones on tv crying a river about how their kid was a perfect angel and wanted to grow up to be a minister... Most likely want to grow up and be on WWE Smackdown, (the fact that shows like that can stay on the air says a lot about our society!). Teach your kids to be disrespectful morons and that's what they will grow up to be, if they live to grow up. I'm not saying it's right to go beat some kid, but you never know when the person you mouth off to is on the edge of insanity, it's just not samrt to assume the law will protect you from crazy people....

Yes Smackdown is the root of all evil, but Jack Bauer can blast and kill and torture who ever he wants but wrestlers are the bad guys lol. Let's not discriminate against the most basic cartoon and kids shows. Now I don't know what era you grew up in, but I watched everything from Bugs Bunny,Road Runner and Coyote,Tom and Jerry, Transformers, Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, Batman, and so forth. On the surface they all seem like high quality kid entertainment, but what do they all have in common? Violence. Many of these shows are still on the air in some form or another, but yet WWE is the end all be all of violence lol.

As for the kid, just to play devils advocate here, who says the kid wasnt just kidding around and having some fun with the dad. It could be one of his kids friends just kidding with him, the dad had a bad day,the kid said just the right thing to p!ss of the dad not actually meaning to, and the dad went to the kids house and beat him.

On the other hand perhaps the kid was being the typical kind of kid that deters many from playing on line, constantly sniping, guarding the spawn points, etc and deserved it. In such case, while the dad may have been wrong, hopefully the kid learned a lesson. Sadly not to many other kids will I doubt.

Ah yes this reminds me of the good old days where ya watched your mouth or would be liable to be picking your teeth up off the floor. Granted the Dad shoulda found a 17 year old to teach the kid a lesson. Lesson learned non the less I think!

PS3's community is older than 360s but the amount of annoying people is the exact same. I have both, played on both.

the man is pathetic.
(the sarcasm starts)i lost are a game of chess against my brother,he stirred me up a bit rubbing it in maybe i should bash him.i got beat at a game of 8ball a few years ago by a 15 yo who stirred me up a bit maybe i should of bashed him.maybe when im 46 i should get videogames and play online and go around bashing teenagers that beat me at the game.(end of sarcasm)
hope you can see by my sarcasm that bashing someone cause you lose at a game is pretty much stupid and pointless.being 46 and having 3 kids of his own he should be patient and know what teenagers are like.im 27 and i know you dont hit someone unless you have no other option.I also know if someone beats you at something practise and improve to the point where you wont be beaten at it.

Actually, the studies seem to indicate that the only "morphing" of peoples tempers and thoughts are towards the peaceful end. Frustration and taunting...those tend to "morph" people's emotions towards the violent end of the spectrum...and this happens without video games.

I think the strangler needs some serious mental help...it isn't like he snapped and strangled the person next to him or something...he researched the address, drove across town, rang the doorbell, and then strangled the first person who came to the door...that is the kind of thing that serial killers do.

people should be untouchable on the net and on online games.i dont see your full name, phone number and address on afterdawn for any crazy person using the internet to phone you or come to your house.people should be able to have a bit of privacy especially kids.

@ksib people should be able to say anything they want its called freedom of speech.o wait theres laws against it but none to allow it.

@kb i totally agree the man needs serious help.

"Freedom of speech" is NOT license to say absolutely anything you like, either de facto or de jure. Try yelling "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater; enjoy that felony charge! For that matter, try telling a cop exactly what flavor bacon you think he is, next time. The beating ought to be refreshing.

While the dirty cop might beat you for it, there are no laws against calling a cop bacon...and if he beats you for it and your friend catches it on a camera phone, the lawsuit will pay for 4 years of higher learning.

There are rules in place for the games...and you can get kicked or banned for swearing or even for antagonizing people in some cases, but the fact remains...if you say something to someone (anything with the exception of, "I give consent for you to hit me"), and they hit you, they are breaking the law.

And? That's why I spoke of de facto ("as fact") and de jure ("as law"). Try insulting the cop (at least, if not too many people are around) and you will learn exactly what I meant.

Freedom under the law (de jure) DOES NOT equal actual freedom.
