You must have a ripper, Nero doesn't rip. You can use decrypter(free), rip and export the files to Nero. Or you can use a program called anydvd(39.00), install it, it runs in the background, nothing else to do. You just open Nero. Be sure to uncheck safe mode in anydvd when setting it up in the program heading. Also DVD43 or dvd region free(both 39.00 ) also work like anydvd. All 3 have a 30 day trial.

Assuming you have a legitimate copy of Nero 6 -- you are entitled to a FULL upgrade for free to Nero 6 Ultra -- which comes in 4 bundles .

in one of those bundle you will find Nero Recode 2 -- that is a better tool then DVDShrink to rip DVDs when used as ""bigorange"" says in conjunction with AnyDVD.

You will need your original Nero Identification to activate all the features of that 4 part bundle.

Decrypter then Nero simplist and most effective dvd copying technique IMO.

Shrink may also be need to reduce dvd size (also freeware)

sorry ryan , I think not. You have listed 3 programs to do what one program, called Nero recode will do with anydvd running in the background. Recode also will not lose menu function after re-authoring, shrink will. No need to rip with decrypter, anydvd has already removed any copyright protection. Recode has better pic quality than shrink. You mentioned Nero , in recode you're already in Nero and you burn from there. So, how can 3 programs be simpler than one. I want to add, there's nothing wrong with your method, it will work and if you're happy then that's what it's all about. I just disagree that it is the "simplest" method and it's definitely not the most effective, if by effective, you mean quality. Rebuilder/CCE, Pinnacle Instant Copy 8, Intervideo dvdcopy2, all have much better quality than shrink. One final note, for one that doesn't want to spend money, then shrink/decrypter can't be beat. It's what I started on and If you're talking freeware only, I would agree with you 100%. You don't really even need Nero, just these 2, and not one dime spent.

May I jump in and ask. Did I do something wrong. I just purchased Nero 6 Ultra and went to web site to download latest upgrades but did not find that I had to enter any registration code?
Also big orange read the part about unchecking safe mode on anydvd went into mine and it was checked but I removed the check mark.Just curious as you why?I might have other things checked that should not be since I have 16 days left of my free trail of 21 days.
Thanks for the help

daletom ~~

You dont have to enter any serial when you download the upgrades -- but when you install them you will find that Nero will check your already installed version then will ask for your serials if need be.

daletom, once in Nero open recode and nerovision express individually, click on the ? mark in the bottom left corner, then click on registration in the drop down menu and enter your ultra purchase #, just follow the prompts, do this for each one.
