HP and Best Buy will be running a promotion to liquidate the remaining stock of 32GB TouchPads. They will be offered for $149.99 exclusively to customers who buy a HP or Compaq desktop or laptop computer.

Is there a price limit to qualify. Can I buy their cheapest PC? My brother just needs a basic PC for Internet browsing, typing. He's not tech savvy at all. And there's no alternatives for cheap tablets. And it seems you can get android on these things now.
So Meg Whitman's other shoe has dropped. HP is not getting out of the PC business, and they'll try and squeeze every nickel out of the last run of touchpads. I might have picked one up for 99 bucks, but its a no deal at 150, and having to buy a crappy HP PC. You have to give her credit for doing the most obvious thing though, a lot of people will probably jump on this. A lot of uninformed people that is.
What's the guess on the amount the pc's price will be jacked up to make the touchpad profitable in this bundle?
Seems to me there is a potential for a couple of 'Black Friday' winners in the lot, but not many. Most will buy an overpriced bloatware PC and have this taped to the side more than making up for the manufacturing cost of it & a couple of its counter parts up the line. Like a few of the other folks said, $100 was probably a pretty good deal & timing on my side I would have snagged one too, but economy, hard times blah, blah... another $50 really does make it a deal breaker & I certainly won't buy a proprietary POS in order to score an "HP" tablet. I think HP got a bit full of themselves on this one.
they strung people along on their website with the notion that there was a list of people that would be notified when more touchpads would be available for sale . then the email went out on the last day of october that there were no more for sale . that really endeared hp to all concerned , no doubt .

It is HP...what did you expect? I say screw them...the only reason anyone wanted one of these crummy tablets is because you can install android and it costs less than a Kindle Fire...but for the tiny price difference it just isn't worth it anymore, even if you didn't need to buy some crummy HP computer. Even the argument for a cheap basic computer really doesn't fly...a $300 Toshiba laptop is better than a $400 HP laptop...and the Toshiba usually has a $50 off coupon.
