The Pentagon has finally decided on its first secure Android device, and its a defunct one. Dell's now defunct Streak 5 smartphone is now certified for secure unclassified communications. The Defense Information System Agency (DISA) began working with Dell a year ago to certify the device to provide to personnel. And we wonder how "insurgents" can hack into live feeds from predator drones? Always a day late and a dollar short I guess, as far as the government is concerned. Dell has been courting local, state, and federal government since they started manufacturing PC's, so not too surprising.
Instead of a government of the people by the people, it's a government of the corporation, by the corporation.

So incredibly dumb...they certify the device instead of the software? This is why the predator drones were approved in spite of the fact that there were no passwords and open source applications existed to monitor their cameras even before they were built.

This means the Dell Streak 5 is to be the official phone of the US government. I didn't know the US gov't. is supposed to endorse stuff. What the heck is this?

Yes...because OpenOffice successfully sued for the fact that they were not given a chance to bid. If they had been given a chance, then their price of FREE would have won the bid.
