The very 1st app I bought after Nero. I had only used shrink/decrypter til then. Didn't even know I could rip with decrypter and use those files with Nero. Live and learn. Hey meant to tell you, remember that problem I had with ulead video studio 5? Well they sent me V.S. 7 and Movie Factory 2 and both work like a charm. Whoever said they had crappy support was full of it. I couldn't believe they did that. I've got nothing but good things to say about them.

That's alot of compression. It's simialar to putting 2 1/2-3 movies on a regular dvd+/-r.

i'm getting ready to do Rush Hour 2, which has infinifilm on it, with no re-authoring. It totals about 51/2 hours, about the equivalant of 3 movies.

Compression on a disc was over 50% with re-authoring, way too much for any kind of quality.

We'll see......(my media should arrive next week)

Shrink 3.1.7 + Nero 6.3 Ultra = Easy DL Success

Got the same multipack as Denzien. I pulled out LOTR,Two Towers and fired it up.
Shrink did it's analysis, came to the menu, I selected "No Compression" across the board.
Pop up window asked me if I was crazy and if I was sure I wanted to continue. "Yes". It went through it's analysis stage and come time for burning Nero picked up on the DL disc and the thing is just flawless. The shrink status window was pretty smooth and even showed when it started burning the second layer. DRU700A on a pretty hot system. Nearly 8gb of data had a total time 1 hr, 20 mins. Works in all the players I have w/o a problem.

No bones about it, the stuff's expensive and I sure can't wait for a drop but it sure feels good to know it works just as easy as the single layers.

Burn 'em if you got 'em.

Used the new Beta shrink with dual layer DVD9 sizing and Nero on a dual layer, Rush Hour 2 with infinifilm feature and all extras, total size almost 8g's.

Used verbatim advanced AZO 2.4x, 8.5 DVD+R DL media and a LiteOn SOHS 832S dual layer burner.

Worked perfectly, came out like a charm, have not noticed a glitch or hitch switching from 1st layer to 2nd layer when playing back the copy, altho it is possible the switch happened after the main movie was over.

Changed nothing in Nero, just enabled nero to burn with shrink and set custom size in shrink to 8124 under edit, then preferences.

It's nice to know the new shrink will be able to keep up with the times when dual layer media comes down in price, if it comes down in price. I sure hope so, the biggest problem is finding a movie I deem worthy of a DL disc(at 12-15 dollars a pop!).

PS- oh yeah tried it in 7 different standalones (either +R or +RW compatible) and all played flawlessly including a Onkyo carousel which is a little picky with copied discs, tends to eject and go to the next.

Good for you, Big O! I keep looking for the price to come down just a bit more, then I'll drag my Sony D/L back out of the closet and try it.

BTW very good of you to include DL for the beta test on the new Shrink. I hope that helped move the process forward. Actually a through beta test program will make things easier for all of us.
I remember when 3.1 came out, it was in public beta for a month or so and we all saw about 6 or 7 versions in that amount of time. Doing it with selected testers before release is a better way to go. Mr. Shrink won't have so much "noise" to sort through, IMHO.

Cheers,
Frank
