Filesonic is down for the count, cyberlockers falling left and right

article published on 22 January, 2012

Following this week's mega news (no pun intended) of Megaupload being shut down by the DOJ, other cyberlockers are starting to fall, starting with popular service Filesonic. The service has disabled the ability to share files, making the, erm, file-sharing service completely useless except for cloud storage of your own files. Additionally, many of the site's biggest uploaders have ... [ read the full article ]

That's a shame. I often used Filesonic. This is why I always knew the life time membership was for suckers. I only join these site 1-2 months at a time here and there.

I'm sure they are not going to refund those who subscribed to unlimited download either. I assume they will be gone altogether before long since they no longer have any reason to exist. You can store info at many cloud places for free.

Fileserve has gone to cloud storage only also. Bummer. Wonder if any of the others are worth buying into...a month at a time though!

Investigate Chris Dodd and the MPAA for bribery after he publicly admited to bribing politicans to pass legislation.

Recently on FOX News former Senator Chris Dodd said (as quoted on news site TechDirt), "Those who count on quote 'Hollywood' for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who's going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don't ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don't pay any attention to me when my job is at stake," This is an open admission of bribery and a threat designed to provoke a specific policy goal. This is a brazen flouting of the "above the law" status people of Dodd's position and wealth enjoy.

We demand justice. Investigate this blatant bribery and indict every person, especially government officials and lawmakers, who is involved.

On another note.......many of these are where I get my free Android apps cause I ain't payin' no buck or 3 bucks for apps........PERIOD. God granted me the knowledge and know-how to circumvent "paying". Don't blame me.........blame the big man upstairs. I'm just the messenger.

I got one message.....HOST YOUR SERVERS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY THAT CARES LESS ABOUT US.

This is all now starting to get real interesting... And here I've been ranting about the "cloud" BS & that whole operation as being a pretty shite option for backing up anything.

If this sudden 'legalized' implosion by the DoJ isn't a clear indication of my "the light going out" then I don't know what is. I personally wouldn't put my data on anything I couldn't tangibly put my hands on. Seeing as the good ol' US of F*d-up A seems to extradite from just about anywhere under the auspices of copyright infringement, sticking your data in another country doesn't cut it anymore.

It's a huge class war out there despite what some may think. As the economy starts to get bleaker, the richer will start to lose their grip on both the poorer & reality and as such, will turn our society more & more into a police state; seeing as they too own/pay for our 'protection'.

As you may also see, whose protection & protection of what almost certainly becomes a debate of semantics. Consider this retribution or a swinging of the pendulum for the public's voice on SOPA/PIPA folks.

Now what do we have to say in reply?

I don't know if I should laugh at the irony or be shocked by a true story you're telling...?

On another note, MediaFire is without a doubt my favorite hosting site. Fingers crossed that it stays alive!

LMAO both; it's true I have uploaded my kids xmas day so that their grandpa could see it. And it's true I did not ask Hasbro permission, nor did I edit or black out Transformers on the TV. But i have heard of a case in Chicago last year where a woman was getting sued over having a clipping of a movie at a party she had in a theater, claiming piracy. It didn't pan out obviously but yea... In case that crap happens again, I removed my uploads.

My only wish was that I had removed all my uploads on MU before it was taken down. No telling now if the US gov't will turn around and cease credit card information of would be "pirates" and start pressing individual charges.

However I always said if they wanted to stop this issue, it's best done at the source, so here's to hoping they are satisfied with their current greed. Not likely, but hope anyways.

Incorrect! you are not safe on any torrent whether public or private,it's the nature of the beast, the sniffer software that's used knows where you live, chanting "the power of christ compells you" won't save you..seriously tho my first few words stands, every torrent can be tracked by them don't kid yourself into thinking otherwise,my source is from interviews on tv & talk back radio with persons in the industry directly related to piracy & illegal up & downloading. As for limewire/frostwire it allows persons anywhere to explore your sharing folder if you haven't set it so that can't be done, haven't you seen the explore button when downloading with it,it's there to explore the uploaders files, very freaky i've used it a few times a few years back before dumping it for utorent

I'd try hitfile, as far as i know it's Russian so I don't think the American's can touch it.
Well, Megaupload wasn't in the US either..... Just saying.
