Filesonic is down for the count, cyberlockers falling left and right

article published on 22 January, 2012

Following this week's mega news (no pun intended) of Megaupload being shut down by the DOJ, other cyberlockers are starting to fall, starting with popular service Filesonic. The service has disabled the ability to share files, making the, erm, file-sharing service completely useless except for cloud storage of your own files. Additionally, many of the site's biggest uploaders have ... [ read the full article ]

My cerebellum fused just slightly... You might want to expand on your question just a bit... or are you making a rhetorical statement that the US is getting into the business of other countries again?

Just to blather slightly, I'm figuring there's a whole new ball game being played with copyright laws here in the US that even 'we' don't know about & we're stretching our wings with it.

That is my pure & total, unbridled guess to it at this moment.

Because as yet there is no policy in place in the U.S that makes all contributions go through a separate entity, that then distributes the money to who it was intended for, thereby making the recipients ignorant of who's paying what & that's exactly how it should be,instead it appears the U.S Gov is run by corp's & politicians are there to do their bidding, somethings seriously wrong regardless, corruption to me is an understatement in their case

Fileserve has gone to cloud storage only also. Bummer. Wonder if any of the others are worth buying into...a month at a time though!
I'd try hitfile, as far as i know it's Russian so I don't think the American's can touch it.
Well, Megaupload wasn't in the US either..... Just saying.
Yeah, but Russia is a borderline an enemy of the US. They certainly don't care about US copyright law. There's no extradition treaties with the US. Someone could be wanted for murder in the US, and if they were in Russia the US could not touch them.

Torrents are safe.
On another note, MediaFire is without a doubt my favorite hosting site. Fingers crossed that it stays alive!
I don't know man. I tried to 'get some items' there the other day and everyone I found was inaccessible in one form or another. My files were okay, but I couldn't get anyone else's. :(

Someone told me once that theres a right and wrong, and that punishment would come to those
who dare to cross the line.
But it must not be true for jerk-offs like you.
Maybe it takes longer to catch a total asshole.

good for Rapidshare. Tell the U.S. to GO F YOURSELVES!!!! (I'm in the U.S.)

On another note.......many of these are where I get my free Android apps cause I ain't payin' no buck or 3 bucks for apps........PERIOD. God granted me the knowledge and know-how to circumvent "paying". Don't blame me.........blame the big man upstairs. I'm just the messenger.

I got one message.....HOST YOUR SERVERS IN ANOTHER COUNTRY THAT CARES LESS ABOUT US.
Rapidshare (German then Swiss owned?) went through this a little over a year ago and WON in a German court case, they just were forced to remove the "rewards" program where they paid you per x amount of money per files downloaded, or they offered to, not sure about that, which is what these latest one's, including filesonic, were doing. That seems to be biggest concern, people actually profiting from these downloads of their kids pix etc. I also was advised to stay away from any "cyberlocker" or hosts, that have a .com address, as that may indicate US-based. Turbobit.net still alive and well as is depositfiles. Filesonic owned by somebody from Hong Kong, I think they, and Fileserve, also overseas owned just saw a chance to keep everybody's money and took it. One-time windfall but apparently worth it to them. At least Rapidshare didnt take the money and run, still same as it ever was except for paying out. Read they even give out "rapids" which are used to buy time at Germany's version of mini-marts. So if you just want to share files with friends, rapidshare has gone through a court case and is a safe bet, and they've been around for years. If you're looking to get your money back, don't go there.
