The Pirate Bay says they are like early Hollywood pirates

article published on 23 January, 2012

The Pirate Bay has been cited by the MPAA and RIAA as one of the biggest reasons new anti-piracy laws are needed, along with the recently taken down MegaUpload. During last week's blackout to protest SOPA and PIPA, they made a protest of their own via a blog post titled, "That pipe of trash that someone smoked." It contains a press release which compares the legal issues surrounding file ... [ read the full article ]

Leave it to TPB to speak the truth that should be all over the national/world news.

They said in the end they couldn't verify information because Wikipedia was blacked out. Are they that pathetic that they can't even read at the bottom of the page it stated to disable the black out effect "TURN OFF JAVA". Wow.. just wow...

I was into their speech too for a moment, a lot of what they claimed and said made sense. But to end on that last paragraph made them sound like a validating argument gone sour. It's pointless therefor to even have this article up, regardless of how passionate their reasoning is.

Nikola Tesla & TPB are both many years ahead of their time.

I have to say this even though I'm not trying to start an argument.
You really didn't read that correctly did you? They were making a statement about what the effect that SOPA and PIPA could have on a site like Wikipedia. Not a statement on the state of Wikipedia at that moment.

Some facts (years, dates) are probably wrong in this press release. The reason is that we can't access this information
when Wikipedia is blacked out. Because of pressure from our failing competitors. We're sorry for that.
I was referring to this paragraph which clearly states that some facts were prolly wrong as they could not access wikipedia during the black out. How is that taken incorrectly out of context?

As I said I agreed with most of what they were stating, but when it comes down to it, if you going to recite American history and they want to bring up facts about even the present including those bills, if you can't access wikipedia as a source because you didn't realize all you had to do was turn java off, then piratebay could have at least took the time to *google* the other sources themselves. Otherwise wait until you can access what you need before you post something you know should be referenced to the source material. That's all I was saying.

Really? Can't you see the sarcasm in here? English is not my first language and I can understand clearly what they mean.

What can I add to the residual skid mark on the toilet bowl despite the flushes? Other than to say that these idiots (fat cats, self important something for nothings) have nowhere else to run & hide anymore. They can't run to a lawless land, makeup new & slanted rules out of lifeless clay to castrate clueless people who happen into their traps.

Several of older folks know the history because we payed attention, but in order to get the younger folks to listen we have to paint that story of woe with passion; otherwise it will be lost.

Nicola Tesla wasn't a guy who happened to work for Thomas Edison. He was an visionary who refused to be limited by even the human mind. A true comic book character of scientists if you will.

Thomas Edison was nothing more than an Eric Cartman racist who capitalized on everyone else's toil on a given moment, probably because he was picked on as a kid & had his toys taken away. So when he grew up he was just going to reap his revenge on the world. So he worked harder on self promoting the work of others as his own than he did his own. If indeed his inventions were truly his own. And then dare anyone to defy him in the public arena. Damn near Lex Luthor in the flesh.

You see, Passion?

Really? You don't recognize sarcasm when you read it? Your first comment sounded pompous to me. They were just trying to demonstrate how things would be. Try and get into the spirit of the thing.

Did ANY of you in the US write your senator? You still have time. The bill is starting to teeter. Your complaint might make a difference and you could feel good. You don't even need to be of age to send a nasty-gram. You just need to live in their state in a valid address.

I've written a few times in the past, but as of resent I feel my voice falls on deaf ears. I pretty much feel that I get a form letter response or a naive retort from an intern trying to help that does little more than patronize & infuriate me more.

Not to mention the fact I live in the most corrupt state in the union (like I want to give away my global position anymore than that).

As I hold out hope against hope that the rich elitists have no lands to run off to & make new laws & rules to which they can enslave mankind with; I can't help but reverse that analogy & realize that I have nowhere to run and hide either.

Besides, ACTA has now been shoved down Europe's throat & the rest of us may be sheep cowering in the corner.

Well they only count them. Don't expect them to take your comments to heart. However, if they get enough and they use magnifiers that range from 10 to 100 so your note could count as 100 voters feel the way you do. They take the count seriously enough. If they get voted out, that is the end of their gravy train.

I didn't know there was a most corrupt state, they are all run by crooks.

Oh, trust me... you know how you walk into a house & can tell there's something dead & rotting in there? So you start walking from room to room to see which room the rotting corpse is decaying in?

Use that analogy & then apply it the rest of the US. My state is where one of the corpses happens to be one that's bloated & rolling around. They didn't even bother to bury it or anything.

I'll have to admit, I'm drawing a blank on that one. I'm assuming they're/that's off site?

Frankly, if it's too politically charged, I avoid them like the plague. I tend to get "really" nasty & hateful, making a facebook suicide look like spritzing your house plants with tap water.

Well they are on the site below the search bar (I go there to get Linux distributions not illegal downwloads). I have to admit they are nice at first but as it gets towards the end the pirate bay representative (I have no idea what his/her user name is) gets more and brutal - like in one email the guy (I think the person who replied was a guy) recommended he visit the xxx section of the site if he was feeling lonely so they definitely speak their minds lol.
