NeroExpress DVDs wont play on my DVD player

Just started to use Nero VisionExpress to compile a selection of MPGs on to DVD-R. It runs ok on the computer but when i play it on my Tosh sd-220E M/R i can only play from 30 mins or so. The menu works but i cant select any chapters which appear before 30 ish mins. Any ideas?
Having read other threads i guess it could be either the Media (currently unbranded as was originally using them to back up HD), the DVD player not liking the unbranded disk, or Nero. Before buying branded media just wanted to see if anybody knew.
