Samsung says new cheap TVs coming in the next few weeks

article published on 8 February, 2012

Sweet I'm in the market for an inexpensive tv, or will be towards the summer. Can't wait to see what they offer.

depends what samsung consider cheap.to a millionair a $4000 tv is cheap.a 32 inch lcd(led) would look good in my bedroom.i was recently in the market for a cheap tv and ended up with a sony bravia 46inch lcd (model is ex520) paid $798 for it.

Oh.........quit playing semantics 'xboxdvl2'.

Cheap meaning cheaper than what is available now and to the AVERAGE CONSUMER. Must be able to read between the lines.

I however, am looking forward to this too as I'm looking to replace a 32" Panasonic tube. Only need 720p but will accept 1080 if the price is comparable. I would LOVE for Samsung to bring out a "Smart TV" that has Netflix on a lower-end 720p. THere would be MASSIVE MONEY to be made in that.

I actually bought one of their 'not so cheap' TVs from their last year shelf. It was still about $1200. The thing was well over $3000 when it was released & does more caca than I'll ever want it to do, but WOW!

I'd still like to have a 'cheapy' for my workshop if for nothing more than the news & a noise maker.

Yeah, Samsung has pretty much been my quiet hero since I visited their headquarters back in 97/98 when I was stationed in Seoul.

Wow, "spend more than $40 on manufacturing facilities" that will pay for at least 400 more 10yr olds!

i looked at one of samsungs tvs think it was led 42inch series 6 for about $1200 but didnt buy it.
stores seem to charge top dollar for samsungs tvs even when they are clearing out older models.hopefully with the price cuts top model samsung tvs will be priced similar to there not as popular competitors products.

@lord Russ $3000 doesnt seem that much compared to 2003 when the flat screens first came out (here) they were like $3000 for a small model.had a m8 pay $1000 for a 26inch flatscreen with a build in dvd player in 2007 LOL.guessing for $1200 it was similar to the one i mentioned above (first line)

@hearme0 i honestly dont see the point in 720p when tv stations and computers and ps3's are putting out 1080 signals.

Just remember, cheap is exactly what it is...cheap.....

So dont start to moan when the features are restricted? remotes and tv's feel cheap plastic...and the panels themselves are made in some back street alley!!!!

I didn't explain myself all that well. It was the top of the line, 56", LED, 3D, 120Hz, self flagellating, whatever Sears had for the display model used to show all the features. Supposed to have all the glasses & crap... you get the idea. The thing originally sold for something like $3500 or so last year here in the US.

They stuck this one on a shelf while putting this years up, I said something like, "it has a snot bubble on the screen" & the next thing you know I got it for $1200 with a new in the box warranty. That's what I was babbling about & should have said.

You still run that risk here too. Being an old fart & literally waving cash under the manager's nose get's them to loosen their sphincter up a bit. Plus, if you go in 30 minutes before quitting time it helps to motivate them to deal a bit better too. But like you were saying, it can backfire just as easily.
