According to multiple credible sources, Samsung and Motorola have been approached by Apple who is asking for $5-$15 per handset in patent licensing fees. Microsoft took a similar approach, and has managed to extract around $10 per handset from over 40 percent of the world's Android makers. I think Apple is trying to make Android more expensive to justify the premium they charge for their products.

Exactly. How else can they continue to bilk more out of their Pavlovian flock?
