AVI's to be burnt on DVD problem

Hi
I was wondering how I could possibly burn 6 30Minute AVI clips of one of my favourite TV shows on a 4.7Gb DVD.
I would like to maintain the quality of the AVI clips and FPS if I could, could somebody please help me!!!

I've been getting excellent reports about using Nero's NeroVision to go directly from AVI to DVD. Just one step, excellent end product -

Thank you for the tip although the file is 22Mb, which is a big file to download for someone who only has a dial up connection (like me).
I was wondering do you know anyway how to get the 6 files on the DVD Disc.
The program I used to capture them was called VirtualDub.
(N.B: I have to use VirtualDub when capturing files from a VHS tape as the program has the ability to make sure the Audio from the tape is matched and plays the same time as the video regardless of the VHS tapes quality and frames that are lost.)
On Hard Disk the files roughly range between 800Mb and 925Mb
Do you have any recommendations as to what AVI Compressor/Decompressor I should use to rencode or capture the files to make them smaller but so they still look nice on the DVD on a television, I have lots so it's likely that I might have the codec anyway, and if the codec needs to be specifically set could you please tell me.
Any relevant information would be greatly appreciated

Perhaps the encoding is okay/good/excellent but just note that when it comes to actually burning, NVE has a tendency to crap out a lot unless you use the Image Recorder. Soooooooo, I'd suggest you use the Image Recorder and then burn the image via Nero BurningROM :)

Look into TMPGEnc to go from AVI to DVD complainant MPEG then TMPGEnc DVD Author to take you to Vobs, then burn to disc -

Sorry about the delay, just got an upgrade to Windows xp and had to re - establish my internet connection.
Scubapete, as I am compressing my AVI's from my TV Card I am wondering what codec would you personally recommend me to use, bearing in mind:
Video Quality
File size
thanks for your tip, I used to have a 30 day trial of TMPGEnc but that was a while ago and back then I never had a DVD-Rewriter.
