i have decided to buy a new HDD for my Xbox, at the moment my heart is set on this one, http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=32012
because at a later date i will be able to use it on my pc, I dont want a 5400 rpm as that is out of date. If you know of a better drive or a cheaper one please tell me, or if there are any problems with this one. Also what i want to do is take out the standard xbox HDD and put it as a second HDD on my pc and i was wondering how can i do this, also what are the specs of the standard xbox HDD

Well when you goto use it in your computer, you will probably want the most performance you can get out of it :) Western Digital is one of the few companies who still have widely popular ATA100 drives -- like the one you've picked here. Not that big a deal but just something you might want to keep in mind

I dunno jack about Xbox's but personally (since im a cooling nut), unless the Xbox has fans (or can have fans), i'd go with the 5400rm (or even 4800rpm notebook) drives for their lower heat output -- and the drop in performance isnt going to be horribly noticeable simply because of the logistics of the games and such :) ... that's just my take.

Heat really isn't too much of an issue. I run a 7200 with the stock fan and its fine. Just don't block the box in so the air flow is restricted. If your worried get a 12v fan and you can set the voltage in evox to 12volts.

ver 1.0, 1.5 and 1.6 with 200gb hdds & X3. Team Xecuter Pro front panel with LCD Screen (rocks). GC with qoob pro, Team xecuter's iced cube case mod and a BBA.

If you don't want to change the fan to 12v in evox and want an easy way to do it.....just cut the black wire on the fan and extend it with another piece of wire....now just attach that wire to a screw on the mobo. It will now run at 12v. Also changing the thermal paste to some arctic silver3 is a good choice too. I have a max80g,and since I play my xbox for about 8 hours a day I did the following..
before mods cpu 60 mobo 52 (temps in C)

mods:switched out stock fan for an 80mm 12v(power from hdd molex),attached a fan to gpu, attached an intake fan at front left just under the dvd drive, arctic silver3 thermal paste.

after mods cpu 49 mobo 32 (temps in C)

Before you can use your xbox hdd in your pc you will need to unlock it. To do this use a program called config magic which is on the slayers auto installer and unlock it then you just format it in your pc and is ready to be used.

-PS2 V4(gap), PS2 V5, duo2
-BARTON 3200+, wInDoWs XP(sp2),

yes, it is just like a normal pc hdd but it is locked so it cannot be used outside of the xbox but someone created a program to unlock it so it can be used wherever. If you have evo-x then you can use config magic to unlock it and just stick it in your pc and format it.
