I have never backed up one of my dvd's before but I am reading up on it and am curious to see which type of dvd I should use.

I believe the options are these:

DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD+R

What do you suggest? Whats the difference?
Thanks
Jason

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. If you don't ask you will never know.

I have a HP 300n. It works great for
me. The programs I've used so far:

dvd shrink with DVD Decrypter (both free)
Nero recode 2 with DVD43
Intervideo dvdcopy2 with dvd decrypter

The media I use is Ritek Ridata 4X DVD+R
http://www.meritline.com/ritek-4x-dvd-plus-rw-dvdplusrw-blank-media-disc-discs-bulk.html

I recomend you get a few +RW discs to practice
on until you get the hang of it.

Zero coasters so far that were not my fault. :)

I love my PH 300 I got it mine for $80 it only 4x burning but for the price and its a HP it works great. I use Ritek/Ridata G04 the last 150 burns I have only had 4 coasters and they where my fault. I use clonedvd2 by Elby with Anydvd most of the time but you have to pay for them you can get a trial. If your looking for free I would go with the Shrink and DVD decrypter they are free and your not going to get better PIC & AUDIO from any other free programs. Most programs that you $$ for will not even come close to shrink and decrypter If you need a guide for Shrink/decrypter I would Look for ScubaPete's guide for burning with Shrink/Decrypter you will find it in the search its the best guide out there. I would listen to h-k about the RW's you should get a few of them you don't want to compress a dvd under 50% it might not come out right You want to make sure that when the compression is that much that the video is ok and if your not using a RW your going to wast a DVD. I only use the RW when the compression is that much any time its under 50 % use a RW. I'm not joking when I say this get your self some good media (blank DVD).Take it easy and good luck burning.

The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask. If you don't ask you will never know.
