Here's the Samsung Galaxy S III

article published on 3 May, 2012

Samsung has unveiled their latest, the Galaxy S III, today during an international event. As expected, the flagship device will have a large 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display and be run by an extremely powerful 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor. On the design side, fans of the Galaxy S II should be familiar with the new device, which keeps a similar design and keeps the physical home ... [ read the full article ]

4.8" display? Seriously? Should I hook up with somekinda dodgy plastic surgeon clinic to add an extra inch to my right-hand thumb? 4" displays are already impossible enough to use with one hand, when you need to reach for the corners.

Damn, just focused on the hardware sides of things..the software is what is really interesting about the phone. But design aside, its subjective its nice to not have just a black rectangle but hopefully it looks better in person.

I would've liked an edge-to-edge screen, but I guess its still the top of the line Android.

Or are one of the other companies finally stepping up? I'd love to see an HTC being #1...

It's technically the top of the line when it launches. But as said, hardware specs, hardly revolutionary. Still a 1.4 Quad is nothing to scoff at and thankfully they added a MicroSD slot for added storage; why all phones don't do that is beyond me.

The real question is, what will be the MRSP? Because that will answer everyone's question on whether the phone has value and how much?

I won't be surprised when it launches in Canada it'll go for $150-200 on a 3 year contract; it definitely will not be free.

I do. And as 6ft tall males can't really be the only target audience for a phone that sells for ?699 (that's the MSRP in Europe, unlocked - about $900), I'm questioning the logic behind the ever-increasing size of the screen. If I position my right hand in a way that my thumb can reach the bottom-left corner of a 4" screen, I can't reach the top-left corner without changing the way I hold the phone in my hand.

Kinda mind-boggling to think that the same company has 5.3" device that is sold as a tablet (smallest version of Galaxy Note) and at the same time, they introduce a 4.8" phone :-)

Still pretty decent specs, apart from maybe the camera where I thought they might have had more MP.
Really, I think the whole MP thing for phones is over-rated (just like for digital cameras). Unless you're doing enlargements, then I think 8MP is plenty. More important is the lens quality, shutter speed, etc.

But back the the SIII - evolutionary, but not revolutionary. I was hoping this was going to be a Android flagship but i dont know if it can rightly be called that.

Was interested in this phone until I started reading the Sprint forums...Sprint Forums

Looks like the US version will have a dual core processor since the Exynos quad core doesn't have built in LTE capability.

Still looks like a good phone. Might upgrade my aging Samsung Moment. The newest HTC EVO on Sprint doesn't have a removable battery. That's a dealbreaker for me.

heard the battery usage on ONE X is the best all around and Evo4lte will have xtra juice, might make need of removable thing of the past.

I'm still waiting for a time when Robert brings anything intelligent to the table. I will be waiting a long time I'm sure.
