Microsoft getting calls over infinite update loop. The problem seems to be with updates KB2633880, KB2518864 and KB2572073 on Windows XP. Some users report that the three updates download and install successfully, but then Windows Update insists on downloading them again repeatedly. Caused me a lot of problems but I finally got them downloaded and installed.

Dont normally deal with XP, however had to rebuild a system for a customer and loaded SP3 and downloaded all the updates without issues.

Anyone having an issue with this could possibly try stopping the bits transfer service and windows update, renaming the software distribution folder or better yet remove it and then run windows update again.

Not sure if it will fix it, but when ive seen similar issues in the past this forces it to rebuild the update catalogue correctly.

Maybe it will help someone.

I had the same issue and I think that it finally resolved itself. More than likely Microsoft corrected the problem.

had this problem for about 2-3 days, also it eventually resolved itself.
but good to know it wasn't just me and there was something to do about it.

There will not be any problem if XP users migrates to Windows 7. Problem solve.
