As with most other features of the Xbox 360, you will need a Xbox Live Gold membership to access it. Microsoft did not give an exact date except to say it will be released in the fall. Internet Explorer ... [ read the full article ]

I've not had a game box since the NES and haven't really desired one.
This new xBox is starting to look kinda interesting...

With one HUGE exception.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I buy ANYTHING that requires a fee to use.

Microsoft... Get rid of this idiotic "Gold Account" bullcrap and you might catch some people who are on the fence or are interested but sick and tired of paying fees to access their own media or otherwise free stuff like the internet.

Oh, Im sorry... Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours?

It's about time Microsoft. Of course I see no reason why IE should require a Gold Membership to use. I understand other apps to some degree because the membership fee pays for licensing fees of third parties but this is a first party app.

And too keebles, way to live in the past. BSOD's have always been a sign of a major hardware or software issue usually that of 3rd party. THe only difference is now Windows is better at recovering from such issues so BSODs are not even really an issue unless a hard drive seizes or some other hardware fails or you got malware. The RROD was an issue and even then some were amplified by people putting their consoles in closed cabinets or blocking the air vents. I am not defending Microsoft's issues but rather criticizing those that seem to think that no other companies have issues and focus on stupid things and trying to make it out like the issues happen to everybody.

While I don't like IE, it may at least be better than the glorified mobile browser that's on the PS3 (which is at least usable and Flash-enabled, if not HTML5-compatible).

I just hope it doesn't require Kinect, if it does, I'll be mad as hell.

EVERYONE! SHUT UP about paying for the IE, your not! you pay for all of the services! services all on one device with perfect service! and all for a measly £40 for a whole YEAR! thats peanuts! Im 20 years old and unemployed at the moment but even I dont think £40 is alot for 1 hole year!
Like i said you are NOT paying for just the IE, your paying for all the services! Apps, games, movies, music, IE, social networking, I.M.... All of it!
ALL ONE BIG SERVICE! for £40 each year!.... why do you think they made IE gold members only?.... to add to the BUNCH! to make gold even more rewarding than it already is!

It isn't rewarding you are paying to play games online which is already included in the game box. You don't have to pay to play the same game online on PC, PS3, or Wii, just Microsoft. I wouldn't mind paying for gold for the extra stuff if they gave me the ability to play my games for free. I got tired of giving Microsoft money for something I hardly used. Paying them $50 to be harassed by some twelve year old no thanks. At least Sony makes it seems like you are getting a value for buying a PS Plus account.

You pay for a service, this service offers you 24/7 online platform. While paying for this service Microsoft constantly tries to integrate new additions to this service. Without doing this it would never evolve and would make the market really out dated. You get what you pay for and they prove their worth. You might not like them personally, that's your opinion. A lot of people do though and that is why people pay for the service and intern make it better. If you shop around as well you can find year long subscriptions for like half the price of what Microsoft charge, 1.50 every month is nothing.
