Hello people,
Between DVDdecrypter and dvd43, which one is better to decode CSS-encrypted dvd's? In other words, does one have problems decoding certain major titles than the other?
Please advise, thank you.

Hi,
DVD Decrypter is about as good as it gets. DVD43 doesn't actually remove CSS encryption, it just bypasses it to allow ripper-free apps to work as they should :)

Hi,
Is DVDdecrypter compatible with any dvd burner I may buy? For example, I'm planning on getting a Memorex dvd burner which, by the way, comes with Nero as the free software. Please advise, thanks.

Decrypter will work with all. BTW,if I were going to buy an on the fly tool like DVD43, I would get Anydvd which seems to be more consistant. I have heard that DVD43 bats at around 70% while anydvd is at 90%. I have used both extensively and I believe most would agree. There is also DVDRegion free, all work in the background just like DVD43, you'll never know it's there. Decrypter always writes to the HD 1st, with Anydvd you can go straight from disc to disc only using a temporary folder or as it's called "on the fly." If I do not need to re-author or compress, then I use this method(altho if one wanted, they could also use it then too.) Anyway hope this helps.

Decrypter is fine with most any burner. The only snag you may run into is if your ASPI layer either isn't installed or needs to be updated Decrypter won't "see" your drive. ASPI is basically the interface that allows your drive to communicate with the rest of your system. Here's a link to Force ASPI 1.8 if you need it:

Nero is a good program although the free version that comes with burners usually has fewer "extras" than the full Ultra version.
And forgive me for not welcoming you earlier so, welcome to AD :)

Thanks for the advice guys,
One more question:
Do you guys think I should download both DVD43 and dvddecrypter and leave it running in the background or do you think it'll be a problem having both run in the background? Please advise, thanks.

It will not conflict with decrypter. BTW, there is a 30 free trial with AnyDVD, I would advise trying it before you buy, unless you're using the free version of DVD43 1.4 which will require you to intsall Patin Couffin.

Hello,
Sorry if I've asked "too many" questions, It's just that I would like to get familiar with the subject; in this case, dvd recorders, get some helpful advice from my "fellow members" here in the forum and then go prepared to the retail store before any of those greedy sales people take me for a ride.
So can someone please tell me what Patin Couffin is?
Thank you.

If you get the free version 1.4 it is not standalone, it must have the Patin Couffin driver installed to work. If you are using DVD43 without it you are using version 2.0 which is only free for 30 days, then you will have to pay, thus the reason I suggested anydvd.. Are your reading my posts, I already answered your question.
