They don't have Android on it because at the time the phone was in actual development, Nokia was still trying to keep Symbian alive.

I'd consider this phone for fun if it was sub $450...

Any hopes of Android breaking its way onto this?

Neither windows phone, iOS, or android are advanced enough to handle such raw photography encoding/decoding. Even nOkias CEO said so. Also, this phone offers a lot more than its high mega pixel camera. As usual a lot of customers are misinformed. With symbian you can use Nokia maps in over 100 countries with or without a SIM card, the audio chip in this phone goes unrivaled for clarity. Those are just a few of the features but most people prefer what they can consume in apps(angry bird, Facebook) and content(Netflix) than function.

Android can't handle raw images? No, Nokia just thinks all Android apps are java. Android is linux, if you need it to do something and you have both root and hardware control, it can be done.

If a multi-core Linux computer (what an Android phone essentially is) can't handle the raw images from a 41-megapixel source, nothing can.

I had the misfortune of having to try installing Skype on E71. I did manage to do it and get it working but the stupid thing needs 8-10 clicks to get it going and it won't even remember the user name/password combo NOR more than a single wifi configuration !
