Shrink isn't a burning program, it decrypts and shrinks the movie files to fit on a blank dvd.
You need Nero or a similar program to write the files to the disc.
You need to check that your dvd writer actually writes to dvd-r. It may only write to dvd+r which is why it will display 'incompatible disc'

If you have Nero then got to Nero toolkit, select Nero info tool, then wait a couple of seconds while it does it's thing.
When it's finished, make sure that the 'drive' tab is selected and that you selected the right drive, (drop down menu at the top).
The resulting screen will tell you what that drive is capable of recording to.
Let me know.

Pjohns, I'd be willing to bet you probably have a cd burner and a dvd reader in your drive. In that case you can only burn cd's not dvd's. In order to burn dvd's you will have to add a dvd writer(or burner if you will) otherwise you will have to use cd's to burn your movies on. They will not hold as much and quality will be inferior. You can get a Pioneer or LiteOn for a very reasonable price(100.00 or less), Plextor is a very good brand but is more expensive(150.00 and up). What is your Dell PC and then I can tell you for sure? Most of the newer ones are dual format which means that they will handle dvdr or dvdrw - or +. You want to start out using dvdrw because then you can rewrite over on the same disc till you get the hang of it. Otherwise if you make a mistake you will have wasted a disc or "made a coaster".
