Has Facebook reached its peak in the U.S.?

According to new comScore figures, Facebook's unique visitors from the U.S. declined in April and May, although the drops were not drastic.
In March, the social networking giant had 158.93 million uniques, which fell to 158.69 in April and finally 158.01 in May. The trend is down (at least for now) but a 0.06 percent drop is surely not scaring Facebook.

Well, summer is here too... And they did just buy up a shit ton of seemingly useless software companies as of recent... I would figure their standing to look 'bad' (snicker) too.
Is it their zenith? Not necessarily. The politics of the presidency may shift & the attitudes in the economy may change thus allowing for more cash to flow around. This could equate to more pissing away of mommy & daddy's funds on FB games & energy drink adds posted in their network, thus equating in better market standing.
Once we see those numbers THEN we'll get an idea of what the zenith will be. By then the market of FB will have been completely saturated.

I think, for early adopters and some in general, lost interest in fb. I check to see what family is doing around the country once to every other day from my phone. It is a nice way to stay in touch, but I agree with KB 6 hours a month is too much.
Then again if you are using fb as a platform to communicate with others w/o having a huge long distance bill, I can see where time on there is skewing some numbers.

It's really not that "terrifying" that someone can spend 12 minutes a day on Facebook.

Before you abandon FB, you should dabble with the timeline feature. I find it cool how you can make a full-size welcome photo and insert large highlighted photos and videos. Don't upload videos to fb or you'll get a warning like white on rice. So far the videos I've upped to youtube are still watchable.

First off... Facebook disgusts me.
Second... In a slight defense of my wife, who probably spends far more than 6 hours a month on Facebook, she is spending that time playing games. I think for a lot of people, especially women, Facebook is merely a gaming portal.

I already deleted half of my so called friends that never talk to me or are to busy playing games to answer back.The majority of my relatives are just as bad also.Maybe I will dump them also.

Yeah, I see a lot of people... (mainly women) playing a lot of games on FB.
I know some guys who do that. I did that for a year or so with Mafia Wars and such. But eventually you realize the addiction aspect of it and just quit doing it.
After you quit playing the games FB becomes pretty boring.
Now that I think about it, it's an interesting phenomenon. Every woman in my life plays the crap out of FB games and every male person in my life absolutely hates the fact that their woman plays the crap out of FB games.

Interesting indeed... It's just like guys playing games... we'll catch hell for playing all the time, but can't say shit when they do it. Equally so, we're supposedly sex monsters, but when a female wants to 'boogie' - deny her & watch the shit storm that cascades down upon you.

It has it's uses but I think the Time Line showed just how much pull they have. Very few person with a life that I know of spent the time building one of those. It is great for contacts you have that you would like to keep in touch with a few times a year and not go to too much trouble to do so.

LMFAO, with a population of 300 mil I think that it is not Facebook's popularity in the US that is dropping. There is simply almost no-one left out of the folks in the States not having a Facebook account - hence a drop in unique visitor counts. :)

Good math but not all accounts are people. I know plenty of persons that do not have a facebook account. They are the older crowd that do not enjoy using a computer.

I think that new is wearing off for facebook. I finally abandoned FB when they went to the new timeline format and stated that you would not be allowed to delete anything AT ALL after the conversion. Their next step will be to begin charging you for all of the space that your STUFF is occupying that you can't delete. Or they are will begin charging you, after some point, for new stuff that you want to add to FB.
FB did allow me to reconnect with friends that I haven't spoken to in over 40 years, but once you have caught up on everything you are good for the next 40 years.
FB also allowed me to find out TOO much personal stuff about people the I really didn't need to know.
I agree with the article and think that FB has reached it's peak.
