Thanks to Apple's decision to withdraw from an environmental ratings registry, the city of San Fransisco has said it will no longer buy Mac computers with city funds. EPEAT standards are pretty old and aren't very practical nor do they push computer design to a higher standard anymore

EPEAT doesn't have criteria for phones and tablets which is why the iphone and ipad are not prohibited.

It's possible the EPEAT standards don't cover lithium ion technology (or the new variants) which will probably have us all revisiting this story when it comes to new Android devices as well.

I've made it no secret when it comes to loathing Apple, but government sanctions & their saber rattling are woefully behind the times. Not to mention, the people 'peeling the banana' are about as technologically advanced as a turnip.

With the micronization of all this crap & the recycling being done, I REALLY refuse to believe the same carbon foot print is being laid here. These guys really need to take another undeserved week off & use it for a jalapeno high colonic.

Aren't they buried in the huge deficits we hear Cali has? How can they afford that high priced stuff anyway?
