I'm new to this room(about 2 weeks).My computer specs are 160GB HD, 512 MB RAM, WXP home,TDK 1280B DVD*/- R/RW and a NEC 2510A. I use Ritek 8XDVD+R disc from Meritline. I hve the newest versions of DVDshrink and DVDdecrypter. I used the shrink and decrypter following Petes' guide. So far I've had 2 successes and 2 failures. The 2 failures I received the message cycle redundacy check. Also following Petes, guide do I have to make a new folder for each movie?

If you're burning at 8x try slowing down to 4x. I had same problem with those Riteks. 4x gave me no coasters. regards

1-cyclic redundancy error usually means dirty disc (scratched, finger prints, bad press from factory, could be anything). I take it your getting this error when using shrink to back up??

Try using DVD Decrypter to rip to hard drive first

2-only make a new folder if your planning to backup to harddrive more than one movie before burning
ie. c:/my movies/movie 1/
c:/my movies/movie 2/
etc. Dont put files from one movie into a folder containing another movie

thank you for info. Now can someone tell me the steps to use decrypter first. I know Karen had a nice write up(and it worked too) but I can't find her post.

to rip with decrypter, insert movie into drive, open decrypter, click on mode (change it to iso-read if its not already selected), select a destination on the hard drive for your file, click on the little dvd>harddrive button at the bottom and your done. Shrink is able to view iso files.


To burn with decrypter set shrink to output its files as an iso (go through the shrink process as per normal, when it gets to back up screen chang the "Select target device" tab to ISO disc image). Once its backed up open decrypter and change the mode from ISO-read to ISO-write, selct your ISO file from hard driv and burn.
